B.A.R. M.O.T. Centre is a family owned and run M.O.T. centre providing excellent M.O.T. services around
Blackpool and the Fylde.

All the following checks are covered with every M.O.T. we provide.

Vehicle identification number.
We ensure your vehicle identification number is permanently displayed and legible on a vehicle as needed if the vehicle was first used on or after 1 August 1980

Registration plate.
The condition, security, legibility and format of letters or numbers on a registration plate must be in good condition

Lights.
The general condition, in car operation, security and correct colour are needed to be good to pass your M.O.T.
The headlamps will be checked to see if the aim is correct so you wont be blinding oncoming vehicles and pedestrians.

Steering and suspension.
It is essential that steering is in the correct condition and the operation must be accurate and smooth

Wipers and washers.
There to give the driver of any given vehicle a clear view of the road and essential for safety.

Windscreen.
The condition of the drivers view of the road is very important.

Horn.
The horn of the vehicle must operate corerectly and must also be of the right type

Seatbelts.
All seatbelts installed are checked for type, condition, operation and security.
All compulsory seatbelts must be in place

Seats.
Front seats have to be very secure. Front and rear backseats can be secured in the upright position

Fuel system.
The fuel system should have no leaks,the fuel cap must fasten correctly and should seal securely.
The fuel cap will need to be opened so make sure your key is available to us.

Exhaust emissions.
Vehicle meets the requirement for exhaust emission. These can vary greatly depending on the age and fuel type of the vehicle

Exhaust system.
Must be complete, secure, without any serious leaks and should silence effectively

Vehicle structure.
The body of your car must be free from excessive corrosion or damage in specific areas. There can be no sharp edges and no hazards on the outside of the car.

Doors.
Open and close. Latch securely in closed position.
Front doors should open from inside and outside the vehicle. Rear doors may need to be opened to gain access to testable items

Mirrors.
An often overlooked yet an essential working part of your vehicle. Presence, condition and security must be top notch on all mirrors, internal and external.

Wheels and tyres.
Condition, security, tyre size and type, and tread depth.

Brakes.
Condition, operation and performance will be tested for efficiancy.
Suitable vehicles will be tested on a roller brake tester for maximum accuracy of results. Vehicles such as those with permanent 4-wheel drive will be tested either on a suitable road using a properly calibrated and maintained decelerometer or a plate brake tester.
